Girl Scout Outreach 

Sunday, November 16th, 3pm

Hello all! 

As discussed at last Friday's meeting, there will be an outreach opportunity for Dr. Wilson's Girl Scout troop this Sunday, November 16th, at 3pm. We will be working with the girls to show them several hands-on demonstrations about acoustics and sound. Demos include: how waves travel, waves on a string, cup telephones, rubberband harmonicas and other instruments, sound and hearing damage, and others (time permitting). 

If you are interested in participating in this event, please plan on attending a pre-outreach planning meeting on Saturday, November 15th, at 3pm. This meeting will be held at my apartment (3607 Greystone, Apt. 1410), and I will provide refreshments. This meeting is crucial for getting comfortable with the demos and explaining them to the girls. Transportation to and from the event will also be discussed. In order to keep track of the number of people volunteering, please contact me (a.jean.hicks@utexas.edu, or 501-499-1552, or in person) by Friday. Note, this will be a relatively small group of girls, making it an ideal learning opportunity for those who haven't been involved with outreach before.
