Outreach meeting and officer elections this week!

Hello everyone! Just a few announcements this week: 

STUDENTS MEET MEMBERS FOR LUNCH

Students, meet with a member of the ASA for lunch! The ASA Education Committee arranges for a student to meet one-on-one with a member of the Acoustical Society over lunch. The purpose is to make it easier for students to meet and interact with members at ASA Meetings. Each lunch pairing is arranged separately. Students who are interested should contact Dr. David Blackstock, University of Texas at Austin, by email <dtb@austin.utexas.edu>. Please provide your name, university, department, degree you are seeking (BS, MS, or PhD), research field, acoustical interests, your supervisor's name, days you are free for lunch, and abstract number (or title) of any paper(s) you are presenting. 

The sign-up deadline is twelve days before the start of the Meeting, but an earlier sign-up is strongly encouraged. 

Each participant pays for his/her own meal.

OUTREACH MEETING & ELECTIONS

On Friday, April 17th, we will also be electing new executive officers for the 2015-2016 school year. Please attend and make your voice heard. If you have been nominated to an officer position, please be present at the meeting! Friday is also our final outreach meeting. We will be building a "DIY wave machine" for use in future outreach events, as well as discussing some of the best ways to present the wave machine to students. It should be fun!  

END-OF-SEMESTER PICNIC

It's that time of year again! The ASA student chapter end of semester picnic will be held on May 2nd at Westdale Parke Apartment Complex (same location as last year). The picnic is open to everyone in the acoustics program. The student chapter will provide hamburgers/hot dogs, condiments, and chips. Please plan to bring a side dish, drinks, etc. I will be sending out more information on this event (including an opportunity to RSVP so we can anticipate food amount) in the coming weeks.
