Post-doc position at Laboratoire d'Acoustique de l'Universté du Maine
Le Mans, France

The research group within the Acoustics Laboratory of Le Mans University (LAUM) is working on the characterization of complex materials using ultrasonic waves. This can be done through propagating a (or standing) elastic waves in either linear and/or nonlinear regime. In order to develop new measurements on civil engineering concrete structures, they are looking for a highly motivated post-doc fellow.

The Post-doc will be involved in a new collaboration between LAUM and OSMOS Group. The first part of the post-doc aims at calibrating and optimizing the experimental device used in laboratory in order to measure the evolution of ultrasonic bulk wave properties when concrete is taken at free boundary conditions. The same measurements should also be performed when concrete is under transient load conditions mimicking the passage of truck, trains or cars. The candidate should identify the most sensitive parameters (velocity, attenuation, nonlinear parameters, etc.) which are able to monitor the structural health of the concrete structure as a function of the loading cycles.

The second part of the post-doc will be dedicated to in situ measurements. The latter will be performed in the Paris metro. Here the passage of the metro will be considered as the transient loading source.

The post-doc will be performed in a close collaboration with the Structural Data Solutions and structural Health Monitoring division of Osmos Group. Measurements and analyses that will be performed during the postdoc will be a good opportunity to bring a new data analysis methodology to nondestructive testing and evaluation of concrete structures. The post-doc fellow will be expected to publish in scientific journals attend an international conference.

Profile
They seek a highly-motivated scientist that hold a PhD in Acoustics or related fields. Moreover, experience on the following fields will be highly appreciated:
- Ultrasonic wave experiments,
- Signal processing,
- Waves in complex media
- Nonlinear acoustics
- Numerical modelling
The language of the post-doc can be French and/or English.

Offer
The position is for 12 months, available immediately. The application should contain a motivation letter, CV and contact details of 2 referees.
