Posting 658178 - Postdoctoral Appointee with experience in vibration and acoustics research
This is an opportunity to build upon current research, with some discretion in work directions. Opportunities exist for teaming with in-house computational teams and large-scale test systems.
Key functions of this role include but are not limited to:
•Working in a dynamic multidisciplinary teaming environment with a focus on multi-input multi-output experimental 6 degree of freedom vibration research
•Perform work spanning the entire research - development - applications domain
•Leading efforts to identify and implement both technical and operational laboratory improvements Contributing to research projects and publication of results
•Implementing work planning and control processes to assure safe, secure, and high quality operations
•Traveling as required to support research and conferences
 
Required qualifications –
•PhD, conferred within 5 years prior to employment, in engineering or related STEM field
•Experience with structural dynamics, mechanical vibrations, or modal analysis
•Laboratory experience, including use of vibration shakers, accelerometers, and data acquisition systems
•Good communication skills as evidenced by a history of publication of results in peer-reviewed journals and external presentations at appropriate scientific conferences
•Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE L clearance
 
 
Posting 658179 – Senior/Principle Mechanical Engineer to support current mission areas and advance experimental capabilities to provide state of the art capability for future needs
Key functions of this role include, but are not limited to:
•Component and system level testing to support all Sandia programs as required, including nuclear weapons, non-proliferation, and a variety of work for others customers
•Working collaboratively with other staff and technologists on many challenging and innovative projects to perform quality mechanical testing for customers
•Leading efforts to identify and implement both technical and operational laboratory improvements
•Contributing to research projects and publishing technical work
•Providing technical oversight to laboratory technologists
•Taking an active role in the development and execution of test specifications to ensure test units are exposed to the correct environments
•Implementing work planning and control processes to assure safe, secure, and high quality operations
 
Required qualifications –
•Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field
•Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related STEM field (PhD preferred)
•Two years’ relevant experience or PhD
•Experience with structural dynamics, solid mechanics, and/or non-destructive evaluation such as radiography
•Experience with basic laboratory test equipment, including data acquisition equipment, signal conditioners, and measurement sensors
•Ability to obtain and maintain a DoE Q/Sigma clearance
