Ben Copenhaver, a UT Acoustics graduate, would like me to pass on this information. It appears the company he currently works for is hiring. Please contact Ben at the address listed below if you have any questions.
The company I work for (ATCO Emissions Management) is looking to hire an additional acoustician. We do acoustical consulting (modeling and measurement), mainly for industrial and oil and gas applications. For example, when an energy company is considering building a new power plant, they call us to determine the impact on neighboring residences and recommend (and sometimes supply and install) appropriate noise mitigation.
They're looking for someone to be stationed in Pittsburgh, starting with a few months in Denver to learn the ropes from the US acoustics manager. ((If somebody really wanted to live in Houston instead, I could be convinced to take the Pittsburgh spot...)) Start date would likely be August/Septemberish.
The stated job qualifications in the link are shooting a little high -- they would be willing to hire someone fresh out of a program like UT's. From experience, I'd say self-motivation/independence, good writing skills and a willingness to travel once or twice a month are important. Also I would recommend having taken the Architectural Acoustics class -- familiarity with octave bands and adding dB levels is pretty essential, and knowing about things like insertion loss and STC curves is helpful too.
