Austin student chapter of the Acoustical Society of America
Field Trip Tomorrow (Wednesday)!
Tomorrow we are meeting in the Lobby of the Commons Learning Center at 2:00 PM and then headed over to see UT's Anechoic Wind Tunnel. Many of you may be familiar with anechoic chambers and wind tunnels, but for research involving aero-acoustics they have to combine them. Dr. Charles Tinney's lab conducts research ranging from helicopter acoustics to jet acoustics. Come see a unique facility at our own university.
I checked with Dr. Tinney's students Raymundo and Gregory and they informed me that they will be performing jet testing "at NPR [Nozzle Pressure Ratio] 37, which is arguably the most important condition to test since this is where the most acoustically violent event occurs. You guys are coming at just the right day :) "
ASA Meeting, 3:00 PM Friday, ETC 2.102
This is a reminder that we are having our monthly meeting this Friday. We expect to hear back from people developing outreach demos and have sign-up for time slots at Introduce a Girl to Engineering day. http://www.engr.utexas.edu/wep/k12/girlday
