McKinney Fellows Symposium 2023
Congratulations to the McKinney fellows who presented on their research as graduate students for the annual McKinney Fellows Symposium. The Chester M. McKinney Graduate Fellowship in Acoustics is awarded annually to one incoming student to the acoustics program, providing the opportunity to perform funded research at the Applied Research Laboratories at UT Austin.
The current group of McKinney fellows pictured below include, from left to right: Kayla Cecil, Philip Kaufinger, Chirag Gokani, William Willis, and Blake Simon. Kayla is the newest McKinney fellow, joining the program this fall, while Blake recently graduated over the summer and has begun working as a Research Associate at ARL.
Chirag Gokani – ASA Student Council BATC Rep
Chirag Gokani was recently elected to the national ASA Student Council as the student representative for the Biomedical Acoustics Technical Committee (BATC). As the BATC’s representative, Chirag’s responsibilities will include welcoming new students, connecting graduate students across disciplines and institutions, and assisting with student-oriented events at upcoming ASA meetings. He will serve in the position from Spring 2023 to Spring 2025. He plans to keep the BATC website up-to-date and develop a repository of academic resources for students in the BATC.
