Dr. Ben Goldsberry gave a graduate skills seminar on COMSOL Multiphysics, a commercially available finite-element solver, at the Student Chapter meeting on Friday, April 17th, 2026. Dr. Goldsberry used the example of acoustic scattering from a cylindrical shell in water to demonstrate the basic capabilities of the software. The seminar was well attended by current acoustics graduate students, many of whom are beginning to use COMSOL for their own research.
Dr. Goldsberry is an alumnus of the UT acoustics program. He completed his doctoral research in 2019 under the supervision of Dr. Michael Haberman, prior to which he completed his master’s thesis under the supervision of Dr. Mark Hamilton and Dr. Marcia Isakson. Dr. Goldsberry is now a Research Associate at the Applied Research Laboratories. You can learn more about his research on Google Scholar.
